Home Guides That Tell You Where the Advice Came From
Cleaning, maintenance, kitchen and DIY guides for people who would rather know why a method works than be told it always does. Every technical claim is traced back to a manufacturer instruction, an industry standard, or a named professional body.
Four subjects, one standard
Cleaning is where the library runs deepest. Kitchen covers the appliances and the maintenance they need, Nerdy Reviews is the hands-on track, and DIY is the newest and smallest of the four.

Methods ordered gentlest first, checked against what the surface can actually take.

Products we bought ourselves, used on real jobs, and kept clearly separate from the research-led guides.

Repairs and small builds, with the honest note about where a job stops being a DIY job.

The sourcing rule
That rule decides what we are allowed to publish. It is also why our guides read differently from the ones that promise a single miracle trick.
- Gentlest method first. Every guide is ordered so you do not start with the approach that can damage the surface.
- Materials compatibility is checked. What is safe on stainless steel can ruin granite, and the guide says so before you start.
- Limitations stated upfront. If a popular hack only half works, you find that out before you spend an afternoon on it.
- We say when we have not tested something. Research-led guidance is labelled as research-led. Hands-on reviews are labelled Nerdy Reviews.
- Nothing is sponsored. No paid placements, no free samples, no brand approval over a word of it.
The cleaning checklists
15 printable checklists covering daily and weekly routines, the four seasonal deep cleans, and the awkward ones: moving in, moving out, after a party, after illness, and a shorter ADHD-friendly sequence built around starting rather than finishing.

A small library, kept current, is worth more than a large one going stale. We update published guides rather than republishing them under a new date.
New here? The deep clean sequence is the guide that best shows how we work.Order of operations, materials warnings, and the point where you stop.
