Eight buying guides, all research-led: built from manufacturer specifications, independent certifications where they exist and verified owner reviews. None of them claims hands-on testing.
What has to be true before a product makes a guide
Five rules. Six of the eight guides follow them in full and show it in a How We Chose section; the nursery purifier and fireplace grate guides predate that format and do not have one yet. If a guide ever breaks a rule, that is a bug and we want to hear about it.
- Criteria first. A guide sets out what matters for that product, and why, before it names a pick.
- A minimum bar. A product that fails it is out, however popular it is.
- Sources named, weakest labelled. Manufacturer specifications and manuals, independent certifications where the category has them, and verified owner reviews, which show what owners commonly report rather than what is established, and are labelled that way.
- No sponsorship, no copy approval. No brand sees a guide before you do.
- No claimed tests. None of these guides claims hands-on testing, and the How We Chose sections say so outright.

Did you test these products?
No. None of the eight guides in this section claims hands-on testing. Picks are compared using manufacturer specifications, independent certifications where they exist and verified owner-review patterns. Six of the guides set out the full method in a How We Chose section, including what we did not do; the nursery purifier and fireplace grate guides predate that format. A hands-on review is a separate standard: a page that meets it is labelled Hands-on review and says how long we used the product.
Do you accept free products?
No. We do not accept manufacturer samples, sponsored placements or copy approval, and there is no arrangement under which a brand can influence a pick. No brand sees a guide before you do.
How do you make money, then?
Affiliate links. If you buy through one, the retailer pays us a commission and you pay the same price. That relationship does not change what we recommend, and it is disclosed inside the first screen of any page that carries one.
What is the difference between a review and a guide here?
A hands-on review claims use of a product we bought, and says how long for. A guide is research-led, built from manufacturer documentation, published standards and verified owner experience, and it does not claim a hands-on test.
