We are looking for writers who know one corner of running a home properly: the cleaning chemistry, the appliance, the repair. Paid per piece, byline on everything, and no obligation to be nice about a product.

  • Paid per published piece
  • Your byline, permanently
  • Remote, and flexible

Who we are looking for

Depth in one area beats broad familiarity with all of them. We would rather have someone who has replaced two hundred dishwasher seals than a generalist who can write about anything.

Cleaning and materials

What is actually safe on stone, sealed wood, enamel, stainless and modern composite worktops, and why the wrong product etches them.

Appliances

Kitchen and laundry appliances: diagnosis, maintenance intervals, the repairs worth doing and the point where replacement wins.

DIY and repair

Small builds, fixings, surfaces and the honest boundary where a job stops being a DIY job.

Household systems

Damp, ventilation, drains, seals: the slow problems that get expensive when they are ignored.

Trade qualifications and hands-on years are the strongest thing you can put in an application. Blogging experience is useful but it is not what we are short of.

What the job needs

  • Real depth in your subject. Enough that you know where the common advice is wrong.
  • Writing that survives editing. Clear, structured, and comfortable being cut.
  • Comfort with sourcing. You will be asked to point at the manual, the standard or the professional body behind a claim.
  • Willingness to say what a thing cannot do. Our guides state limits, and that is not negotiable.
  • Independence. You will never be asked to be positive about a product, and never allowed to be positive because it pays.

What we offer

Paid

Per published piece

Rates depend on depth and on your expertise, and are agreed before you write. We do not ask for free work beyond the one sample below.

Credit

Your name on it

Every piece carries your byline and bio, permanently. We do not later strip bylines or move work to a house account.

Editorial

Genuine independence

No brand sees your work before it publishes. No sponsored content, ever. If you conclude the popular product is bad, that is what runs.

Practical

Remote and flexible

Work where you like, at the pace you agree. Deadlines are real but the schedule is yours.

How to apply

  1. Tell us your corner

A short note on what you know properly and how you came to know it. Trade background, years on the tools, or the hobbyist depth that gets you asked for help.

  2. Send one sample

Either something you have published, or 800 to 1,500 words on a home topic of your choosing. What we are reading for is whether you source your claims and state the limits, not whether it is polished.

  3. Add three ideas

Three guides you would want to write for us and why the existing advice on them is weak. This tells us more than a CV.

  4. Email it

Send to hr@homenerdy.com with your name and contact details, and a link to anything you have published. We answer within two working days.
